Temple Wood

Shafts of sunlight passed through
The grove of vibrant green oak
Shone upon stone, an ochre   hue
With a song, the new dawn broke

Gone away, the night; star-laden sky
Heavenly blue that had replaced
Then from the cool   shade, I stepped
To feel  a  warmth that bless'd my face

This auspicious place of   sacred sites
Where I walked between two worlds
Of whispering trees and   ancient rites
Where the subtlest wind does swirl

Wave-rounded stones,  hard underfoot
Encircling the Druidical circle
Under soil and stone; where roots lie
This hallow'd ground of ancient ritual
